Patient and public engagement group (PPEG)

The patient and public engagement group is a patient forum made up of members (called patient leaders) which meets virtually every two months to discuss issues of concern to members. We are actively seeking new members:

  • aged 18 to 35 (although we encourage anybody interested to apply, regardless of age)
  • from the global majority
  • living with chronic conditions and/or disabilities
  • who are family or carers of people treated at Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals
  • who are heart and lung patients at St Thomas’ Hospital or Guy’s Hospital

How do I join?

To become a member of the PPEG, please complete the expression of interest form.

The form will ask you how you would like to be involved and your communication preferences. We use this information to develop an active and responsive patient network to partner with staff and drive improvements to patient care.

What happens once I've joined?

You will be invited to an induction workshop where you'll find out more about the group and your role as a patient leader. The workshop usually consists of in-person and virtual sessions, but we can adapt them to suit specific needs. After the induction there may be opportunities for further self-development, should you want it, to help you prepare for your role as a patient leader.

As a member of the PPEG you will sign up to our terms of reference, code of conduct and group values which explain the purpose of the group and guidelines for involvement. These will be sent to you once you've joined.
