Skin care for transplant patients

Organ transplant patients have a much higher risk of developing skin cancer than the general population. While all transplant patients are at risk, some are more likely than others to develop skin cancer. This 3-minute video explains some of the things you can do to protect yourself during exposure to UV light. It also explains what to look for when examining your body for early signs of skin cancer.     

If you notice any changes to your skin once you have started immunosuppressant drug treatment, then you should discuss this with a member of your medical team. Spending time outside is important for our mental and physical health. With the right safety precautions, you can continue to be active and enjoy the outdoors.
