Lung Health Check

Lung Health Checks are a free service available for people aged 55-74 who smoke or used to smoke. The service is available for patients registered with participating GP practices in Hammersmith and Fulham, Hillingdon, and Sutton.

The checks are run by specially trained nurses who aim to find out how well your lungs are working. A lung health check can help find problems early – often before you notice anything is wrong.

What happens at a lung health check?

Lung Health Checks are currently carried out over the telephone by a trained nurse, who will ask you some questions about your general health and lung health. The call will take about 20 minutes. Once you have completed the health check, the nurse will talk you through the results. As part of the check you may be offered an appointment for a low dose CT scan to look at your lungs.

How can I book?

If you receive an invitation in the post from your GP, you can call the Lung Health Check team to book an appointment. If you haven’t received an invite but are interested in a check, you can call the team to see if you are eligible.
