Clinical support

Our expert clinical support teams provide crucial services for patients across a number of specialties.

Our work

Our critical care and anaesthesia service provides intensive care to patients who need the highest level of support, for instance after having heart or lung surgery. Both our hospitals have dedicated units, with specialist staff and equipment to monitor and aid patients as they recover.

We have a track record of significant investment in imaging technology, allowing us to diagnose many patients without the need for invasive procedures.

The laboratory medicine team provide an expert service to support the specific requirements of a specialised hospital for diseases of the heart and lung.

Our pharmacy service aims to be the international centre of excellence for pharmaceutical services in the field of cardiothoracic medicine and surgery. It provides patient-focused, cost-effective pharmaceutical care, based on published evidence to Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals.

The rehabilitation and therapies teams cover speech therapy, nutrition and dietetics, physiotherapy and occupational therapy, all of which are offered to patients as appropriate to support their physical recovery and development. Specialist clinicians work closely with primary and secondary care providers outside our hospitals to provide on-going support to patients after their discharge.
