The Quality and Safety of Organs Intended for Transplantation Regulations 2012 sets the standards for the quality and safety of organs intended for transplantation.
The regulations require any UK organisation carrying out the following activities to be licensed by the Human Tissue Authority:
- organ and donor characterisation
- retrieval of an organ
- preservation of an organ
- making arrangements to transport an organ
- implantation of an organ.
