Codes of practice

Under the Human Tissue Act 2004, the Human Tissue Authority (HTA) has issued the following nine codes of practice:

1. Consent
2. Donation of solid organs for transplantation
3. Post-mortem examination
4. Anatomical examination
5. Disposal of human tissue
6. Donation of allogeneic bone marrow and peripheral blood stem cells for transplantation
7. Public display
8. Import and export of human bodies, body parts and tissue
9. Research

The codes set out practical guidance for how licensed organisations should ensure compliance with the legal and regulatory requirements.
