As the clinical nurse specialist for interstitial lung disease, my key role is supporting and educating patients and their families.
Inpatient services include:

Acting as a clinical resource for ward staff providing support and teaching

Multidisciplinary team liaison and referral

Six-minute walking tests and oxygen assessments

Support and education for patients receiving a new diagnosis or starting new treatments
Outpatient services include:
-
Telephone advice and support for patients and GPs
-
Cyclophosphamide clinic on the day unit
-
Co-ordination of new drug therapies
- Co-ordination of support groups
- Links with other units and external agencies
