On World COPD Day (Wednesday 16 November), Royal Brompton & Harefield honorary consultant physicians, Dr Nicholas Hopkinson and Dr Omar Usmani, lent their support and expertise to the national Respiratory Health 2016 awareness campaign, in collaboration with the British Lung Foundation.  

​​​​​​​The 10th annual Primary Angioplasty Live conference took place at Harefield Hospital on 5 October, with over 300 delegates made up of staff and school children attending sessions at the two-day event. 

Professor Stuart Elborn CBE, consultant in respiratory medicine and internationally recognised specialist in the care of people with cystic fibrosis, joined Royal Brompton Hospital on 1 October as clinical professor of respiratory medicine, and centre director for specialist adult cystic fibrosis. 

Specialists at Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust are using 3D imaging and printing to create exact replicas of patients’ hearts to help them plan and carry out surgery.
