What makes our programme different

As a specialist centre, we provide nurses the opportunity to develop expert skills and knowledge across cardiology and respiratory care with exposure to different clinical areas and units at both Harefield and Royal Brompton hospitals.

All units in our hospitals offer friendly and supportive learning environments, insight into a variety of clinical areas across cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, critical care, transplantation and respiratory medicine, and ample opportunities to train with and learn from fellow nurse practitioners and clinicians. What's more, our 12-month preceptorship programme, designed by our own nursing team, helps newly qualified UK and international nurses transition from student nurse to practitioner, supported and guided by a dedicated nursing development team.

Our international nurses join us as Band 3 supervised practice nurses awaiting UK registration, and will be paid this grade while studying to pass the objective clinical examinations (OSCE).
