Applying to work for us

Application process

  1. Apply to the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). For more information, visit: https://www.nmc.org.uk/registration/
  2. Complete the Online Competency Based Test (CBT) with the NMC. Information about the CBT can be found here: https://www.nmc.org.uk/registration/joining-the-register/na-test-of-competence/
  3. Register your interest in working at our hospitals. On the online form, it is important you select the international nurse recruitment programme option, area of interest and which hospital site you would like to be based in. You can also ask any questions or request further information in the textbox provided.
  4. Email your curriculum vitae (CV) via: nurserecruitment@rbht.nhs.uk.
  5. Our staff will review your application and documentation (including your NMC documentation). If you meet our requirements and are called for a formal interview, we will arrange a Skype call in which we will learn more about you and your nursing experience.
  6. If you are successful, you will be offered a position with us at the Trust and will be able to travel to the UK to study for your OSCE (once all pre-employment and immigration requirements are complete).

Important

  1. Nurses that have undertaken their nurse training in a country where English is not their first language must complete an English language test (International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or Occupational English Test (OET)). Note: if you can produce evidence of registration and recent practice of at least one year in a country where English is widely spoken, or if you have undertaken your nurse training in a country where English is the first or native language, you do not have to take the IELTS or OET test.
  2. Our internal review process may take up to 3 months before you receive your acceptance letter.
  3. Due to the Home Office regulations, you may be referred to one of our dedicated nursing agencies to help submit your application to work with us. This is due to several reasons, including Visa requirements and other government regulations that are relevant to your country and working in the UK. For more information, visit: https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/uk-visas-and-immigration
  4. Visa requirements are an essential part of international nurses coming to work for us. If you currently hold a UK Visa, it is important to let us know. If you don’t hold a Visa, we will advise which Visa is appropriate for you and will allow us to sponsor you as you work. For more information, visit: https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/uk-visas-and-immigration.

We are more than happy to help you with your questions. Please email us at nurserecruitment@rbht.nhs.uk.
