To ensure our heart transplant outpatients continue to receive the support they need during the COVID-19 pandemic, we are moving our heart clinic onto video consultations using the Attend Anywhere platform.
A video consultation is an appointment that takes place between a patient and a clinician over video, rather than face-to-face or over the telephone.
Video consultations offer a wide range of benefits:
- See and interact with your clinician in a similar way to how you would in person.
- Have your consultation in a place that is convenient for you.
- Avoid having to travel to and from the hospital for routine appointments.
- Quick and easy access via a smartphone, tablet or computer/laptop using the Attend Anywhere video platform.

How to use the Attend Anywhere Video Platform
Prior to your appointment
All you need to access the Attend Anywhere platform is an internet connection (via Wi-Fi or a 3G or 4G network) and a computer or mobile device.
The platform is accessed via a web browser and does not require any applications to be downloaded. You can use either Google Chrome (for PC/Mac/Android devices) or Safari (for iOS devices and Macs).
Attend Anywhere is a secure and confidential service. Calls cannot be accessed by anyone other than the clinician without your permission. If you require a family member, carer, friend, or interpreter to be added to the call, please provide us with the individual’s email address and mobile phone number before the date of your appointment.
Please remember to check your appointment letter and take note of the correct date and time of your consultation. Check to make sure you can access the Attend Anywhere platform in good time before your appointment and contact us if you need any support or help.
The Attend Anywhere link will be provided in your appointment letter.
Starting your appointment
Enter the video consultation clinic online via the link provided in your appointment letter.
Please make sure your device is set up and ready for your appointment five minutes before your appointment time. If you have any difficulties accessing Attend Anywhere, please contact us at 0330 1285 663.
You will be taken through some simple steps to ensure that your equipment is set up correctly. Once these steps have been completed, you will be asked to enter your name and telephone number and to read the terms and conditions. No information you enter will be stored.
You will be transferred to our virtual waiting area where your clinician will join you.
Please note in cases of emergencies, your clinician might be called away. If you are in the waiting room past your appointment time, please allow some time for your clinician to join you. If the clinician cannot attend the appointment, our receptionist will contact you to reschedule.
If you are running late for your consultation, please call us on 0330 1285 663. If you have not let us know you are running late and are not in the waiting area at the time of your consultation the clinician will try to reach you on the phone number provided.
Please note that during your allotted appointment slot, if there are any difficulties accessing video consultations, the clinician will telephone you instead. You do not need to contact the heart transplant team or your clinician in advance to express your preference for a telephone or a video appointment.
