Biography

Mr Simon Jordan was appointed consultant thoracic surgeon at the Trust in 2006 and is chair of the cancer team at Royal Brompton Hospital.

Areas of expertise

Mr Jordan's surgical expertise includes: 

  • adult and paediatric thoracic surgery

  • surgery for primary lung cancer, including minimally invasive video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) lobectomy and VATS anatomical segmentectomy

  • tracheobronchial surgery

  • primary and metastatic chest sarcoma

  • surgery for COPD

  • airway stenting.

Research interests

He was co-investigator (with Professor Michael Polkey) into a novel surgical procedure in patients with severe homogenous emphysema.

He is currently co-investigator into a trial of bronchoscopic lung volume reduction. Working with colleagues, he is trialling the thoracoscopic resection of the left stellate ganglion in children and adults with long QT syndrome (LQTS) and catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT).
