Mr Olivier Ghez trained in France (Marseille and Paris) and in London (Great Ormond Street Hospital). He completed his research studies at Harvard Medical School, Boston and in Marseille, focusing on circulatory assistance and development of the heart.
Mr Ghez is a consultant paediatric and congenital cardiac surgeon at Royal Brompton Hospital, specialising in the surgery of heart malformations in neonatal babies and small infants. He is also the chair of children's heart services at Royal Brompton Hospital.
In 2017, Mr Ghez was announced as the winner of an ITV Good Morning Britain Health Star Award. He was nominated in the Children’s Health Star category by numerous families for the lifesaving surgery he performs on children diagnosed with congenital cardiac conditions.
