Biography
Dr Maraisa Spada graduated with honours from Brazil and started her paediatric cardiology training in Rio de Janeiro where she also obtained her MSc.
Dr Spada completed her specialist training in paediatric cardiology and post-graduate degree in heart failure in London. She has since focused her interest in congenital heart disease, cardiomyopathies, heart failure and advanced echocardiography.

Teaching
Dr Spada has extensive teaching experience and has lectured at international conferences in several countries. Currently she oversees international students visiting Royal Brompton Hospital, and is an honorary professor at Federal Fluminense University (post-graduate degrees in cardiovascular science).
She has also published papers and book chapters in cardiomyopathies, congenital heart disease and Kawasaki disease.
