Areas of expertise

Dr Baksi is an integral member of the inherited cardiac conditions and CMR services. In this role, he consults with patients who have heart muscle disease as well as family members who may be predisposed to a familial cardiac condition. His specialist areas of interest include heart muscle diseases such as dilated and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, cardiovascular MRI and cardiac genetics.

Research interests

Dr Baksi’s particular areas of research interest are the correlation between appearances of the heart and genetics in dilated cardiomyopathy, and advancing understanding and treatment of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

During his PhD studentship, Dr Baksi utilised a technique called wave intensity analysis. This was pioneered by colleagues at Imperial College London and developed within the hypertension and circulation group at ICCH to provide insight into the formation of the arterial pressure waveform.
