Biography
Dr Antonis Pantazis took up a consultant post in cardiomyopathy at University College London Hospitals in 2007. He subsequently moved to Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals where he has been leading the cardiomyopathy and Inherited Cardiovascular Conditions service since 2016.
Dr Pantazis has a special interest in hypertrophic (obstructive) cardiomyopathy, arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy and dilated cardiomyopathy, inflammatory conditions of the heart muscle and the pericardium and neuromuscular cardiac conditions.
He is also the head of the echocardiography department at North Middlesex Hospital
Dr Pantazis supports the development, and leads the implementation of, advanced and novel therapies in the field of cardiomyopathies. He also leads and contributes to research into new treatments in cardiomyopathy from basic to clinical phases.
He has been the Chairman of the Working Group of the European Society of Cardiology for Myocardial and Pericardial Diseases.
Publications
Dr Pantazis is an author/coauthor of multiple scientific papers published in peer-reviewed journals, a reviewer for national and international journals, an invited speaker at national and international conferences and a member of the writing committee of national and international guidelines in the field of cardiomyopathy.
Dr Pantazis is actively supporting patients’ charities including Cardiomyopathy UK.
