The Trust hosts excellent facilities for clinical research into heart and lung disease. These are available to Trust researchers and their academic and industrial collaborators
Clinical Research Facility
The Trust has a dedicated clinical research facility that includes paediatric and adult inpatient-bed and outpatient-consulting rooms. There is also a dedicated research centre for interventional cardiology studies which included a catheter laboratory which is linked to a 3T MRI scanner.
Biobank
The Trust’s Biobank allows both access to retrospective biological specimens as well as the infrastructure for prospective collection.
Genetics
State-of-the-art high through put sequencing research facility.
Imaging
The Trust hosts state-of-the-art imaging facilities including a 1.5T and 3T Magnetic Resonance Imagers (MRI). Situated in the basement of the Royal Brompton Hospital, the Trust has a Siemens Skyra 3T scanner specifically for research. A team of MR physicists and (radiographer/nurses) support the facility.
In addition, the Trust has a research echocardiography facility co-located in our interventional cardiology research centre.
