ICMS activity in research, service developments and education is driven by our research leads and supported by internationally renowned collaborators as leaders in their field within four key areas:

Interventional cardiology, led by Dr Rod Stables, consultant cardiologist, Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, with academic support from Dr Patrick Serruys (professor of interventional cardiology, Thoraxcenter, Erasmus University, Rotterdam)

Arrhythmias, led by Dr Derick Todd, consultant cardiologist, Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, with academic support from Professor John Camm, professor of clinical cardiology (St George’s, University of London)

Heart failure, led by Dr Jay Wright, consultant cardiologist, Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, with academic support from Professor Karl Swedberg (professor of medicine, Cardiovascular Institute, Gothenburg University, Sweden)

Aorta and valves, led by Professor John Pepper, consultant surgeon Royal Brompton Hospital, professor of cardiothoracic, National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College, with academic support from Professor Anthony Estrera, professor of department of cardiothoracic and vascular surgery (University of Texas, Houston)
