Professor Peter Collins

Professor Peter Collins


Professor Peter Collins is a clinical cardiologist with an academic career in cardiovascular research. He has published extensively in many international journals and speaks regularly around the world on heart disease and the influence of hormones on the cardiovascular system. His principle clinical interests are in cardiovascular disease in women, hypertension, and the effect of hormones on the heart and blood vessels.


He is the co-editor of 'Women and Heart Disease', a widely established authoritative text book of all aspects of heart disease in women, and has recently been responsible for the publication of a cardiovascular risk factor guide for doctors in an attempt to improve awareness of, and help with, the management of cardiovascular risk factors in menopausal women.


Professor Collins is currently chair of the Task Force on Gender of the European Society of Cardiology. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London, the American College of Cardiology, the European Society of Cardiology and the Council on Circulation of the American Heart Association, and is a member of the British Cardiac Society and the
Association of Physicians of Great Britain and Ireland.


John C Stevenson

Dr John Stevenson


Dr John Stevenson's areas of expertise include metabolic disorders such as cholesterol problems and insulin resistance; coronary heart disease prevention; bone disease and calcium metabolism; general endocrinology and general internal medicine.

He speaks regularly at conferences around the world. He also gives lectures and teaches courses for the International Menopause Society, European Menopause and Andropause Society and the European Society of Cardiology.

Dr Stevenson is chairman of the UK charity, Women's Health Concern, a fellow of the European Society of Cardiology, and editor of Maturitas.

He is on the editorial board of a number of specialist journals and has over 400 publications to his credit, including books and research papers on his specialist subjects.

Dr Sam Kaddoura


Dr Sam Kaddoura is a consultant cardiologist at Royal Brompton and Chelsea and Westminster hospitals, an honorary senior lecturer at Imperial College School of Medicine, London and also an honorary consultant
cardiologist to the Royal Hospital Chelsea. He specialises in all aspects of general adult cardiology.

He has a strong academic record with many publications in international journals (including Lancet, Circulation, New England Journal of Medicine) and has written several medical textbooks. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, the European Society of Cardiology and the American College of Cardiology and a Member of the British Cardiovascular Society.

A particular clinical speciality of Dr Kaddoura is echocardiography (echo), an ultrasound examination of the heart.

 

“Echo is such a powerful diagnostic technique in cardiology,” he says. “It gives a great deal of important information about the anatomy and function of the heart in a safe, painless and non-invasive way.
