Patient advice and liaison service (PALS)

Confidential support, help

and advice.

 

 

Our patient advice and liaison service (commonly referred to by its initials as 'PALS') is a confidential service that provides support, assistance and advice to patients, families and carers.  We have offices at both Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals.

 

How PALS can help you

If you have a problem that has not been adequately answered or resolved by staff, or a query that you would not feel comfortable speaking to hospital staff about, PALS is here for you.

 

We will listen, and, with your permission, communicate directly with hospital staff to solve the problem.

 

We regularly meet senior hospital staff to bring problems to their attention and find ways of stopping them occurring again.

 

What can PALS do to help?

 

  • Advise and support patients, their families and carers. This can take place on the telephone, on the ward, in the PALS office, or elsewhere by arrangement

 

  • Listen to your concerns and queries about your experience in the hospital and to help resolve problems quickly on your behalf

 

  • Note your comments and suggestions on improving our hospital services and make recommendations accordingly

 

  • Tell you about the hospital's complaints process and support you in making a formal complaint. We will also give you information on the Independent Complaints Advocacy Service.  Choose this link to find out more about the complaints procedure.  We also have easy read complaints information.

 

  • Arrange for you to meet the members of staff who are responsible for your care

 

  • Accompany you to consultations and meetings in order to give support

 

  • Where appropriate, liaise with other organisations on your behalf

 

  • Refer you to other services outside the hospital
