Patient accommodation at both our hospitals varies from single rooms to the more traditional ward layout. Male and female patients may share the same ward area, but will have individual bed bays and separate bathrooms.
There are exceptions, for example in intensive care and in high dependency areas where male and female patients are accommodated together so they can receive specialist medical and nursing care. Most wards also have some single rooms.
We consider privacy and dignity as being important for all patients and if you have any questions about this issue please contact the ward manager or modern matron who will be able to help you with this matter and allay any concerns you may have.
