Royal Brompton children’s expert appointed joint Editor-in-Chief of Thorax
Royal Brompton’s Professor of Paediatric Respirology, Andrew Bush, has been appointed joint editor of leading respiratory medicine journal, Thorax, the first paediatrician to be appointed to the role. He shares the appointment with Professor Ian Pavord, Professor of Respiratory Medicine at Glenfield Hospital, University Hospitals of Leicester.
Thorax is the official journal of the British Thoracic Society and publishes clinical and experimental research articles on respiratory medicine, paediatrics, immunology, pharmacology, pathology, and surgery. Each issue covers topics such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, smoking, respiratory infection and lung cancer.
Professor Bush is one of the country’s leading experts in respiratory disease in children and has regularly shares his expertise at academic meetings and conferences throughout the world. He is particularly interested in invasive and non-invasive assessment of airway inflammation in asthma and cystic fibrosis, and clinical respiratory physiology.
Commenting, Professor Bush, said: “I am delighted to be appointed Editor-in-Chief of Thorax with Ian Pavord. It will be an honour to work with colleagues at the British Thoracic Society on their flagship publication and use my expertise to hopefully increase awareness of paediatric respirology.”
Professor Bush has served until recently as deputy editor of the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine. He sits on the editorial boards of a number of other prestigious medical journals.
