The Trust supports nurses who want to lead research in their clinical area or
collaborate with projects that seek to answer clinical questions.
Our nursing strategy promotes high-quality
research by nurses that contributes to the Trust's overall research strategy, is aligned
with the Department of Health's national research direction and promotes
a research culture within nursing.
The strategy also aims to ensure that:
- Patient care and the patient experience will be
enhanced through research by nurses
- Nurses will have the skills to appraise research
evidence in order to implement and provide evidence based care
- Research into aspects of the nursing care of
patients in clinic, hospital or home will be conducted in order to
understand better the impact of nursing interventions, nurses'
contribution to care and the effect of new nursing roles on patient care
Research in nursing group
The research
in nursing group leads and collaborates on research projects and facilitates nurses
to evaluate the delivery of care and patients’ experiences to improve quality
of care.
The group provides support for nurses in:
- Writing proposals for funding or educational
projects
- Understanding evidence based practice
- Conducting audits or patient experience
evaluation
- Gaining research funding for nursing or
multi-disciplinary evaluations
- Setting up research forums
- Presenting research or audit work (presentations
or posters)
- Facilitating research projects
- Disseminating research findings at the
