Realistic patient care

We have created an environment for training that is capable of replicating acute medical, anaesthetic, cardiac and thoracic surgery scenarios with the SimMan 3G, a dummy patient with highly advanced functionality that allows carers to be put through realistic patient care scenarios such as heart failure and anaphylaxis.

 

The STaR Centre also contains a fully equipped skills teaching laboratory for invasive procedures, a state-of-the-art transoesophageal echo simulator, bronchoscopy simulator, a lecture theatre and two seminar rooms with video-conferencing facilities.

The STaR Centre promotes high-quality patient care by allowing students from across the UK and Europe to train with Royal Brompton and Harefield’s top cardiovascular clinicians to develop professional capabilities, such as the management of medical emergencies, proficiency in invasive procedures and surgery, effective communication and team work in an entirely safe learning environment.
