Specialist expertise
Dr Magee has particular expertise in therapeutic cardiac catheterisation in children, including the development of new technologies. He also has specialist expertise in the diagnosis, investigation and management of pulmonary hypertension in children.
Inernational experience
Dr Magee trained at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, one of the largest and most prestigious children’s hospitals in the world.
He makes regular trips abroad on medical missions with Chain of Hope UK. Trips have included Mozambique and Jamaica, where he introduced cardiac catheter based therapies, and Egypt.
Dr Magee says of the projects, "Much of the work on such trips is engaged with teaching, to allow eventual self-sufficiency." His charity work for Chain of Hope also involves teaching postgraduate students from abroad.
Dr Magee speaks at international conferences including those sponsored by the Association for European Paediatric Cardiology. He has organised a joint conference with colleagues from Queen Silvia Children’s Hospital in Gothenburg, Sweden, with particpants from all over Scandanavia, which will become a regular event.
Official bodies
Dr Magee is the regional specialty advisor for north-west Thames and is a member of the Specialist Advisory Committee for Paediatric Cardiology of the Royal College of Physicians.
