Biography

Dr Wei Li studied at Peking Union Medical College, where she received her MD and a PhD at Imperial College, where she was awarded the Fielding Medical Scholarship.

Since then, Dr Li has acquired over 20 years’ experience in congenital heart disease and echocardiography. She is the clinical lead for echocardiography in adult congenital heart disease and for pulmonary hypertension at Royal Brompton Hospital.

For me, the patient is of paramount importance. Non-invasive echocardiography offers unique insights that help patients in their successful long-term care.

Dr Li’s clinical and academic interests include:

  • echocardiography in adult congenital heart disease
  • pulmonary arterial hypertension
  • heart disease and pregnancy.

Teaching

Dr Li is recognised as a leading educator for her work in training and developing staff in adult congenital heart disease practice and echocardiography. She is a regular faculty member on both internal and external training courses.

She regularly speaks and participates at many leading national and international cardiology conferences including one of the most established international conferences in adult congenital heart disease; the Advanced Symposium on Congenital Heart Disease in the Adult.

Dr Li has also given more than 60 national and international invited lectures.

Publications

In 2007, Dr Wei Li co-authored Echocardiography in Adult Congenital Heart Disease. She has contributed to several cardiology textbooks, including chapters in Adult Congenital Heart Disease: Diagnosis and Management, the world’s best-selling title in this sector. 

Dr Wei Li has produced over 90 peer-reviewed publications, including a substantial number in leading international journals.
