Lung transplantation and respiratory failure.
Dr Carby’s latest research focuses on improving outcomes in transplant patients with fungal infections and ameliorating renal toxicity of immunosuppression following lung transplantation.
He trained at Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School, qualifying in1995, and went on to specialise in respiratory medicine before joining the Trust in 2003.
Dr Carby teaches on the MSc course in respiratory medicine at Imperial College London and on the British Thoracic Society’s lung transplant course. He is also assistant clinical tutor at Harefield Hospital and lectures in respiratory medicine across the south of England.
As well as being a reviewer for Thorax, an international peer-reviewed journal for respiratory medicine, Dr Carby has had a number of research papers published by organisations including the European Respiratory Society and American Thoracic Society.
Dr Carby has written chapters for a number of prestigious publications, including the Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation and the British Journal of Transplantation.
