Dr Diana Bilton moved to Royal Brompton Hospital in 2007 to lead the hospital’s adult CF unit, the largest of its kind in Europe. She previously established a regional adult CF unit at Papworth Hospital in Cambridge following completion of her training in Manchester and Birmingham.
Areas of expertise
Her areas of expertise encompass cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis and management of airway infection with aerosolised antibiotics.
Research interests and projects
Dr Bilton is currently involved in research into novel therapies for cystic fibrosis and non CF bronchiectasis. She is the global chief investigator on a trial of inhaled mannitol in bronchiectasis and the UK chief investigator on trials of inhaled antibiotics in CF and non-CF bronchiectasis.
Dr Bilton is also co-principal investigator, with Dr Jane Davies, for Royal Brompton in its role as a designated site for the European Cystic Fibrosis Clinical Trials Network.
Lectures and teaching
Dr Bilton is a regular, invited lecturer at European CF Society and American CF meetings as well as the European Respiratory Society and American Thoracic Society.
