UK Cardiac CT course

Combined level 1 and 2 course

Sunday 29 April to Friday 4 May 2018 (six days) NOW FULL

Sunday 15 to Friday 20 July 2018 (six days) - now taking registrations

We have been successfully hosting a combined level 1 and 2 cardiac CT course since 2010.

These courses have been well attended with participation from radiologists and cardiologists from all over UK and abroad.

The aim of the course is to understand the various steps involved in acquisition of cardiac CT and learn a systematic way to review, post-process and interpret the large amount of data available from a single cardiac CTA study that can be adopted to any modern workstation. This course is not for radiographers. For further information, please visit the FAQ section.

Some of the main features of this course are:

  • lectures on relevant topics by radiographers, physicists, radiologists, cardiologists and cardiac surgeons.
  • hands-on training delivered on advanced Vitrea workstations (or similar) with the latest software. This course offers 150 cardiac CT angiography and 50 calcium scoring cases (as recommended by the British Society of Cardiovascular Imaging (BSCI) and Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography / American Heart Association (SCCT/AHA) for level 2 certification) over five days providing with ample time to browse through cases under expert supervision (other courses offers this over four to five days).
  • extensive correlation with catheter and other imaging techniques.
  • live recorded cases (25) of actual scans being performed.
  • 20 hours of lectures relevant to the understanding and practice of cardiac CT.
  • hands-on training delivered by an advanced level 3 cardiac CT practitioner with extensive knowledge and experience in all aspects of cardiac imaging in a multi-modality environment in a tertiary cardiothoracic centre.
  • certification by SCCT for level 1 and 2 training, and by the Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) for 46 Type 1 continuing medical education credits for the whole meeting.

This course is NOT for those wishing to do only level 1 training.

Feedback from previous courses:

Thanks for the excellent course! It was everything I hoped for and much more! The workstations and course setup was perfect. The hands-on training works very well and I gained an enormous amount of knowledge. The interaction and discussions with the cardiologist and other colleagues was excellent. Thanks for excellent lectures and case presentations. The structured way of reading a CTA will always be with me and hopefully I can also teach other radiologist to do the same. Thanks for the teaching – I will always remember this week and recommend it to any radiologist or cardiologist interested to attend your course. Marthinus Malan, consultant radiologist, South Africa

I would like to thank you very much for the wonderful teaching we received on the CT course last week. The level of interaction was of exceptional calibre at both clinical and scientific levels. I was very impressed by the amount of cases we managed to see in 6 days. I am sure that this unique experience is impossible to achieve without the years of hard work that you have spent putting the cases together, and following up on the patients' outcomes. I will be strongly recommending the Harefield Cardiac CT course to my interventional and non-interventional colleagues.

I wanted to thank you for the CT course last week. We all had a fantastic week and learnt so much about what CT can offer (and I really think the use is only going to increase - massively so if perfusion improves). I really enjoyed your teaching style and enthusiasm and we will certainly recommend the course to our colleagues.
