Next course: 21-26 October 2012

The department of imaging at Harefield Hospital has been successfully hosting a cardiac CT course since 2004. These courses have been well attended with participation from radiographers, radiologists and cardiologists from all over UK and abroad.

The aim of the course is to understand the various steps involved in acquisition of cardiac CT and learn a systematic way to review, post-process and interpret the large amount of data available from a single cardiac CTA study that can be adopted to any modern workstation*. This course is not for radiographers.

Some of the main features of this course are:

  • Lectures on relevant topics by radiographers, physicists, radiologists, cardiologists, and cardiac surgeons.
  • Hands-on training delivered on advanced Vitrea workstations (or similar) with their latest software. This course offers 150 cardiac CT angiography and 50 calcium scoring cases (as recommended by BSCI and SCCT/AHA for level 2 certification) over five days providing with ample time to browse through cases under expert supervision (other courses offers this over four to five days).
  • Extensive correlation with cath and other imaging techniques.
  • Live recorded cases (25) of actual scans being performed.
  • Opportunity for further on-site training and exposure in CT department as part of the course with no extra fees.
  • 20 hours of lectures relevant to understanding and practice of cardiac CT
  • Hands-on training delivered by advanced Level 3 cardiac CT practitioner with extensive knowledge and experience in all aspects of cardiac imaging in multi-modality environment in a tertiary cardio-thoracic centre.

Feedback for November 2010 course

"I found the course excellent in all aspects. It was optimally organized, and I thought your collection of cases were most interesting. Towards the last days of the course I found myself wanting to see more and more cases. I have recommended your course to other registrars in our radiology department."
Dr Joon Lee, Radiology SPR, Brighton

"Just wanted to say 'thank you' for delivering an excellent course this week. I thoroughly enjoyed the six days. The course was expertly delivered and the organisation and planning was excellent. Your enthusiasm and passion for the subject shone throughout. I will whole heartedly recommend it to colleagues."
Adam Mather, cardiology SPR, Newcastle upon Tyne

"Many thanks for your excellent teaching. You have a very down to earth, sensible approach..."
Dr Allan Harkness, consultant cardiologist

"I want to thank you for the excellent teaching during the Harefield Cardiac CT course. Not only has it addressed the learning objectives, but I very much appreciated the way it was tailored to prepare us for the NICE guidance. I also admired the excellent teaching skills and patience in going through nearly 150 cases with diligence. I also felt that we learnt a great deal from your feedback techniques. I would also like to convey my thanks to your team who assisted you so efficiently."
Dr Ramabala Vuyyuru, consultant cardiologist
