6 April 2011
The 11th annual course in ‘Effective prenatal screening of congenital heart disease’ takes place on 7, 8 and 9 April at Royal Brompton Hospital.
Course directors, Dr Julene Carvalho and Professor S Yen Ho said: “This is one of the best attended courses in fetal congenital heart disease in the UK with delegates from all over the world.
“Royal Brompton Hospital is a recognised leader in this area and practitioners benefit enormously from attending this course to improve their knowledge and skill in identifying congenital cardiac anomalies.”
In addition to consultants from Royal Brompton, the course has an impressive invited faculty from Harris Birthright Centre for Fetal Medicine at King’s College Hospital, University Hospital of Lausanne (Switzerland), Wessex Fetal Medicine Unit at Princess Anne Hospital (Southampton) and the Fetal Medicine Unit St George’s Hospital.
Running over three days, the course consists of a series of talks and interactive sessions culminating in hands-on scanning experience for some attendees.
Previous and returning delegates, who come from as far as Australia, Hong Kong, Canada and Jordan have commented on gaining excellent knowledge throughout the course:
Most of the practitioners attending are medical and non-medical sonographers as well as advanced sonographers and trainees in fetal medicine, paediatric cardiology and obstetric ultrasound.
