Neil Lerner has been appointed non-executive director of Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust for a term of three years.
Mr Lerner is a widely experienced accountant specialising in all aspects of risk management. He has extensive experience at board level, and as risk management partner at leading international provider of professional services, KPMG, was responsible for managing all aspects of professional risk. He has played a key role in the development of ethical standards for the accountancy profession, globally and in the UK.
On behalf of the Trust, Sir Robert Finch, chairman, said: "I am extremely pleased to be strengthening our Board with this appointment, the Trust will benefit immensely from Neil's extensive experience. We are very fortunate to be in a position to attract such an impressive new member to our team."
After becoming partner at KPMG in 1984, Neil Lerner held a number of senior positions, including head of privatisations, head of corporate finance and head of transaction services business for KPMG UK, and chairman of the KPMG Global Professional Indemnity Insurance Group. He retired from the firm in 2006 and currently holds a number of non-executive posts, including: chairman of the audit committee and member of the governing body of the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London; board member of the Accountants and Actuaries Disciplinary Board (operating body of Financial Reporting Council); and member of the finance committee of the Royal National Lifeboats Institution (RNLI).
