Anima

Anima
Anima

Anima - a five piece a cappella group entertained patients and staff at Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals by singing on the wards and around the corridors. They also performed at the opening of The Other Side Gallery Exhibition much to the delight of those who came to view the artwork. The songs are written by group leader Joannna Foster who weaves a magical mix of world influences with jazz and soul. Both Jo and Maya, another of the groups members also lead workshops for Royal Brompton's Singing for Breathing programme.

Music Therapy at Royal Brompton Hospital

Nordoff Robbins

Ellie Walker, a trainee music therapist studying with Nordoff Robbins, has recently joined the Trust  on a year long placement at Royal Brompton.

She will be based with the rehabilitation and therapies team and is also working closely with the arts team.  Nordoff Robbins is a national specialist music charity delivering music therapy and other music services to a broad range of people in a broad range of places including schools, hospitals, care homes and prisons right across the UK.  Ellie will be on site every Monday (during academic term time) from now until the end of the year. She will be based in the respiratory wards initially and we hope to work with cardiac patients later this year.  If you would like to find out more about her work, please contact the arts team.

Music Residency in ITU

2012 will see a year of regular live music in Harefield Hospital’s intensive therapy and high dependency units. We will be bringing in a regular solo performer once a week from this spring, and evaluating the effectiveness of this work with a research team.  The music has been made possible through funds raised at the Italian Charity Dinner Dance held by Mr Paolo Lo Cascio & Nino Catalanotto and their fundraising team, and the Rickmansworth Angling Society.
